My love and understanding of visual aesthetics and contemporary art & design have led me from graduation with honors in Graphic Design into a decade of creative, collaborative, and directorial roles. My work with filmmakers, publishers, musicians, illustrators, and artists continuously inspires me to further explorations in visual media. I have four years experience as an art and design lecturer at South Nottingham College in England specialising in studio-based instruction with an emphasis on graphic art, typography, and digital media. My focus and flexibility have led to many mutually rewarding experiences with diverse clients in the U.S. and Europe. I continuously seek expansive, creative challenges in the design of engaging, dynamic, and powerful visual communication in print and online digital media.
In addition to my design practice I have also worked as a touring and studio musician with Scout Niblett and recorded with engineer Steve Albini. As a drummer I have also made contributions to film soundtracks. I am based on North Carolina's Crystal Coast and I am available for commissioned work. My freelance graphic work includes:+ Original paintings on canvas commissioned by the AMC Television Network, and featured in the television show Mad Men.
+ Design of all international promotional materials (posters, postcards, t-shirts, and soundtrack album cover) for the film Scott Walker: 30 Century Man.
+ Graphic Design for the Lakeshore Records Scott Walker tribute album.
+ Full layout, design, and text editing of a 200-page book about the Minutemen for Akashic Books, NY, to coincide with release of documentary film We Jam Econo.
+ Album cover design for record labels Too Pure, Beggars Banquet, Sea Records, Secretly Canadian and 4AD.
+ Art direction of individual projects for the Berlin-based Rostron Records, Lodown Magazine and Style Mag.
+ Design and sales of my own Les Femmes t-shirt line and design, production and marketing of my own custom badge line Wear More Buttons.
+ In-house graphic design for Design Archives Vintage Emporium of Greensboro and Winston-Salem.
+ Website development for recording artist Geneva Jacuzzi, filmmaker Stephen Kijak; photographers Russell Kleyn; and documentary project The Dan Plan.
