I'm very excited to announce that one of my canvases will be featured in Season 6 and Season 7 of the television show Mad Men. My painting, Pink & Blue (Respectively), will be seen in the offices of Sterling Cooper Draper & Pryce. I've yet to actually see a full episode of the show, but I know it's very stylish, and so I am incredibly flattered that they would want to feature my work. I'm thrilled that my work would be used in this way, as I've long been an admirer of minimalist set design (most notably Woody Allen's 1970s movies) and it has definitely inspired my way of producing work.

The painting featured in the show is a larger version of an abstract geometric canvas that I produced in 2011. The canvas itself was an exercise in colour and minimality, using a structure based on fractals. Like most things that I produce, the painting is nonfigurative and was an attempt to find a commonality between science and art.

The AMC network are keeping everything under lock and key until Season 6 premieres on April 7th, however Time Magazine have published a fantastic behind the scenes look at the legacy of Mad Men's Modernist style, including a rather dramatic photograph of Jim Cutler in front of the painting (right). The painting is situated in the corridor outside Ken Cosgrove's office in the SCD&P offices.

The original canvas that hung in the offices of SC&P, and featured in the television show, was listed in the official Mad Men props and set ornament auction via Screen Bid and ended up making it's way into the top 140 Mad Men artifacts. I'm thrilled that as a result of the auction the painting will have a permanent home at the Museum of Television in California. The canvas will hang on the original set walls of Don Draper's office which have been donated to the museum by Mad Men director Matthew Weiner.
